We are in peak holiday mode at present, the run of holidays that gives us 'Golden Week'. Today was a holiday because it falls between two actual public holidays so the government, in its wisdom some years ago, decided to make it an actual holiday, rather than the pretend one most were taking anyway (yes, here in Japan, not Australia).
It is called 'Midori no hi', or Greenery Day, as a result of shifts in ex-emperor birthdays and names for said birthdays that puts the recent Queensland Governments' machinations over the Queen's Birthday vs Labour Day look positively sensible.
So, having decided to stay home (since I have to go to work tomorrow even though it is a holiday...best not ask...) I thought it appropriate to go out and explore a little of the local greenery...especially post-cherry blossom season...what comes next?
Well, there was a fair bit of green, but some weed varieties too that deserved their moment in front of the lens...
