Day 86/365: Time to tiptoe...

...through those tulips

I noted just before I left for Brisbane that the tulips were on the way to prime bloom for their special little festival along the promenade at work. And blooming they are...quite the spectacle.

There are some 20,000 blooms, all over the main open spaces, it is such a delight to see.

Indeed, there will probably be more of the same this week, I never tire of tulips. You have been alerted, please do not be alarmed.

Day 85/365: There there petal...

...lots of them

So technically, apparently I've missed the best of the cherry blossom season. I've missed it by just a couple of days, but that also has to do with the fact that the weather has been mucking up the blossom timetable--hot weather, cold weather, rain...indeed, even some snow last week apparently.

Nonetheless, all is not lost. There are blossoms to be viewed in all shapes, sizes and colours, so I'm not too worried. Indeed, the walk to work this morning was a delight.

There is probably a very good reason for the new academic/financial/working year to begin on 1 April, the peak of spring...it really gives you a lift.

And so back to the habit of the bus, the train, the next train and the walk to the office. I haven't forgotten the way it seems.

Countdown to starting it all over again.

Day 84/365: Another day, another airport...

...here we go again

If i could turn back time...as the song goes. Actually, sometimes I'd just like to slow down time. Gosh it has gone quickly. There I was, back at the airport, hardly feeling like I'd been away.

There is a bit of a habitual feel to the return flight. It is always in the morning. I make my way through immigration (border forces...), through the duty free, look for an OzLit read for the plane and a coffee and fruit toast at the cafe. It's a good one and a chance for a good coffee before I go.

Last breakfast and a lucky galah (great read btw)

Observation post

Wait, where are we?

All the bits

Back

It is also a good observation post too.

Then eight hours later, back on the ground, and into the (Tokyo) night.

Here we go again.

Day 83/365: Another morning tea...

...no wait, a study in Australianess

There are just some things one must have when back home. There are meat pies. With sauce, of course. And then there is the classic morning tea. The local bakery does everything in one size: enormous. So enormous, it takes two people to eat just one delicacy.

So I must indulge of course, for tomorrow it is back to the grind, well, back on a plane to get back to the grind.

It was an almost normal old Saturday, morning tea, the Saturday paper, sport on telly. Just a few observations.
