Day 183: Backyard belligerents...

Day 183: ...the Baza returns

Somewhere between yesterday and today, we arrived at the halfway point of the project365 game for this year. My, that's a lot of pics and that is, dear reader, a lot of reading on your part. Thank you.

It was probably fair enough then that one of the most popular blog personalities made a return for today. It was a cold start to the day...so cold in fact that for the first time ever, I noticed little puffs of condensation coming from a lori's beak each time it squawked. Although I could see it, I wasn't quite quick enough to take a pic.

Of course, it was a cry for a serve of seed on this cold morning. It seemed pretty content thereafter, and the little puffs disappeared. This one is a regular visitor and I think we're getting used to each other and it doesn't mind playing the model to the hobby photographer.

I thought the different effect of the sunlight on the feathers (given the angle of the sun through the trees) was quite interesting.

Later in the day, the Baza was back, in the backyard breaking beaks with belligerent birds...or so went my tweet. Not just the miners today but the butcher birds as well swarmed around the Pacific Baza. It didn't have much time to settle, constantly on the move but it managed to grab a bite.

...and brunches...

The backyard remains a constant marvel.
