Day 231: ...but did you see the flamenco duck?
Yes, Wednesday. Long day, sometimes known as hump day and to help me get over the hump of hump day, I now go out for a stroll to the lake and back, just to refresh. Mornings start at 5.00am, (habit mainly) and teaching finishes after 9.00pm and then there's the admin and associated work to do. Hump day is a long, long day...
The lake does mean more bird pics (unless I spot the kangas) but I've decided every day by the lake is different.
We still have the pelican looking lost without its buoy flotation device (which still hasn't been replaced), and the ibis continue to territorialise the island trees. A couple of cormorants spread their wings at a distance and then, further down the way, the two swans were back...and close to the shoreline.
Beautiful.

Don't we know it... |
Until the ducks, tired of playing second fiddle to the swanny cousins, decided to go all flamenco on the observers (disco, they tell us, was so '70s). And can't they just turn a pretty tail feather or two...
|
Ahem, duck does the 'swanny' |
|
And... two, three, four... |
|
Tra-lala-lala |
|
C'mon swanny, how about this, eh? |
|
Ha! |
|
Besides, there are more of us... |
And then it was time to turn back to the office, to the classroom, to the lecture theatre, for there was still six hours to go...until next time.

Aaah |
Something Monet-like to think about.
