Day 108 2016: A trip out west...
Day 108:...a lecture, and a wet trip home
So as a new staff member one probably feels a greater sense of obligation participation is expected in university events, even ones on Sunday, early on Sunday, requiring a commute of about 90 minutes. Such was my day today. To add to the interest, there was a forecast of rain and strong wind (including in the earthquake zone as well...as if they need that on top of everything else).
But one must do what one must do. So off I went to to hear the Principal of the University present the opening lecture in the Sunday Lecture series hosted by the University's Buddhism Research Centre. Not as many staff as I anticipated, but in the end, quite a worthwhile experience. Very interesting. And it is always good to test my Japanese to the nth degree...
It started to rain as we left the presentation. And while I waited for a bus, I took a small detour to check out a roadside creek...
