Day 215 2016: It began with rumbles...

Day 215: ...and 'painted' a picture

It began with a few rumbles in the distance, early in the morning. Thunder. And the humidity. And the sense we were in for a dark and stormy day. Just like home really.

I managed to dodge the rain between stations on the commute but the storm arrived just as my class started. It must have been something out of the ordinary, the students were readily distracted and some even a bit concerned.

'Don't you see these storms all that often' I asked them. 'No', they answered. 'Oh, fairly typical summer storm situation for me', I said.

One of the interesting side aspects of the class is that we get to share and compare lots of things besides politics.

Anyway, the view from the window today painted quite a picture, naturally. As the rain moved through and over the water, the patterns were almost, shall we say, painterly.

Rain over the port

moving across

leaving a trail

And then there was a brief moment with these clouds...

Light and shade

...for just a moment, they didn't seem real.

And on the commute home, the rain returned just as I had to make my way from the bus stop to the house. How heavy was the rain? Well, one of those downpours which makes an umbrella about as useful as...well, not very useful at all.
