Day 228 2016: Time to fly...

Day 228: ...but first...

Holidays begin today. Finally. But first, there's a trip to be made. By plane. To a place far far away. Well, not as far away as it used to be.

But first...the flight day generally involves getting into town with enough time to book a seat on the bus, which I did. That gave me enough time to have a wander around Ikebukuro environs. It was a bit of a ritual my late friend and I had when I was making the trip home. Get in early, book the seat and relax a bit.

In a play on the sound of the name, Ikebukuro, this major train junction has become synonymous with owls. 'Ike' means pond, 'fukuro', in this case, means bag. It also sounds like the word for 'owl', hence the connection.

Don't think about it beyond that.

Anyway, one of the things my friend and I planned to do when she got better was to go around Ikebukuro taking photos of all the images of owls that dot the landscape.

So I made a start today.

There were a few other things to look at as well and then a smooth trip to the airport and onto the plane...and home.

Made it.
