Classes done...

 ... and we are away... (133/365, 13 May 2022)

I've been looking forward to this weekend for a little while--a chance to travel to Hiroshima, spend a day on one of the islands of the Inland Sea listening to inspiring women as we seek to build a sustainable society. I've packed the cam so be ready for lots of pics...it is a gorgeous part of the world.

But before that, today was an early start which meant taking the overnight bag to work yesterday on a later, less-crowded train--today's high peak ride meant that I needed to minimise disruption to others. Look, it is ok, relying on public transport as we do here, you get used to knowing what to do and what not to do...there is just no wiggle room on the high-peak train to take anything more than my work backpack...so squeezy.

Classes and commitments complete (as complete as they might be) it was off to Tokyo Station, waiting for a 3:30pm departure and a four hour trip to Hiroshima, in the rain...so no Mt Gujo this time.

The carriage arrives and in less than ten minutes is cleaned, prepared and ready to board

There is a tradition, whether hungry or not, to purchase an appropriate ekiben, and bevvy.

No Mt Fuji today, but it would be about here...

Arrived, on time, to the minute

Arrived on time, without a hitch and found the hotel in record time. Can't wait until tomorrow.

*seriously Australia, you've been talking about these high-speed trains ever since I've been travelling to and fro between Australia and Japan...come on.

Today's pics with the iPhone 12 mini. On board.
