Another day working at home after all. Earlier anticipation of a start to tai chi was curtailed upon learning that the start date at my nearest venue was in fact 3 March, not February. There are other places a little further afield...not to worry.
That meant resuming work a little sooner than planned. I'm still working through the newspapers of 1893, still marvelling at language such as:
We found Mr. Watanabe decidedly inquisitive and anxious to learn,
yet
none too liberal in delineating his scheme.
The Northern Territory Times and Gazette, 25 August 1893
It is actually just as interesting to be reading Australian English of the 1890s, as it is to read the Japanese language, as it happens...
Fresh, at day's end... |
Anyway, that meant not venturing too far during a day of light showers and and sun, on and off. During my afternoon break of course, I was struck by the look of the frangipanis at the end of the day. We've seen them here first thing in the morning with their rich pinks and tinge of yellow. But as the day draws to a close and most have fallen to the ground, the contrast was quite noticeable. I've never noticed the fine 'hairs' on the petals before. Have you?
I feel ready, almost, to drop to the ground too, but there is a rehearsal to be had at the other end of the day...best I turn up, fresh...
