Day 305.5: When in the north...

Day 305.5: ...do as the northerners do

So there were just a few too many opportunities to cram into two regular daily posts. Japan does 'cultural' events very well and there is always a variation on the theme when you had to the regions. Like any university, AIU was prepared to put on a 'cultural display' for visitors. There are a couple of videos* and pics of Japanese attention to detail I thought worth sharing.

[*A failure of the meeting of different systems...I'm working on it]

I'm going to return to my taiko (drumming lessons) in the new year, come what may (just minus the costume, perhaps...).

This is quite a skill...balancing the 'kanto'

A lovely recital, Beethoven
Watanabe Reiko (v) and Sakano Itsuko (p)

Conferring the title of Honorary President on the late Professor Nakajima, to Mrs Nakajima

Yep, these guys (iPhone 6)

Namahage Taiko, rocking it

Unveiling the monument

Have I mentioned the leaves

Even binding won't stop them...

Unveiling of the sculpture and naming of the library in Professsor Nakajima's honour

The window in the library foyer

Oh, and dinner, on the return trip

We were treated to a very pleasant and commemorative day, even if the weather was a little reluctant to do its part.
