Day 204, 23 Jul 2017: Those days when...

Day 204: ...you can't get past the front door

It was time for me to get back down to the surf club, down Kamakura way, for research purposes of course...

That was the plan last night, but rain and showers on and off all day put paid to that. And then, as the day passed I realised that I probably needed just a day doing, well, not much really.

The end of the day saw the final day of the two-week sumo tournament in Nagoya. Grand champion Hakuho won his 39th tournament, a new record, along with all the records along the way he has set along the way.

For the record, last scheduled match of the day

Getting ready...

Go

Grasp

Tussle

Pause

Throw

Fixing the hair

Championship trophy

The flag

The big cup

Heavy

Nice angle, NHK

I came to appreciate sumo way back during my first visit to Japan as a student. It really is as compelling as a close match of test cricket...

Now it is quite possible that pics of the NHK tv screen don't technically qualify for a true #project365 exercise, but can I say it was a moment in the history of the sport and...well, that's all. That is the day that was.
