Tokyo hosts the Olympic Games in just three years time, July 2020. My university is in one of the main venue precincts...there are signs of the Olympics all around.
The Ariake area is also the backdrop to a lot of tv dramas and commercials. There is always something going on.
So whether today's on-water action was an anti-terrorism exercise in the lead-up to the Olympics, or an action ad for the latest version of a carbonated soft drink...we'll just have to wait and see what turns up on the telly.

Meanwhile, at the end of the day it was off to another research institute meeting...the research momentum is building.
