Day 185 2015: Sunset colours...

Day 185: ...looking East

Our 'winter' has arrived. Cold mornings making it a bit chilly to rise and shine, much less get those keys on a bass clarinet rattling away properly. And yes, it might have just dipped to under double digits for a brief moment, but still, winter is winter. It is all relative.

But it does give us spectacular blue sky days and even more spectacular sunset colours.

After rehearsal I ducked off down the Gold Coast to visit mum and drop off a small present for her. Ended up staying on for dinner, which was Thai from a new little place down the road. Support the local.

Anyway, it was my job to pop down the road to pick it up but as I approached, I was distracted by the colours of the sky setting on the skyline of Surfers Paradise and Main Beach, just across from banks of the Nerang River.

So what's a person with a pic-a-day blog to do but to divert briefly for a pic or two.

Surfers, across Chevron Island

Towards Main Beach, where high rises were once verboten...

And to the west, where the sun was actually setting

Okay, so it delayed the pick up by five minutes but it was a nice array of colour and light to try and capture. And to think, when my family first arrived on the Gold Coast back in the 1970s, that same 'view' had just four high rise hotels and a fifth being built. Yep, that's some 42 years of development you see before your eyes.

Amazing really.

And yes, mum liked her pressie.
