Well December is really here so I suppose the scroogeness about early Christmas songs and the like has to be put back in the stable for a few weeks. It's here. Just accept it.
Japan goes a bit nuts with all the Christmas decorations and marketing and shopping and...get the picture? Not bad for a predominantly Buddhist-Shinto country.
Anyway, I thought it was about time I got into the 'Xmas' spirit and planned the end of the working day to coincide with one of four or five 15 minutes illumination shows at Odaiba, the large entertainment and shopping district just over the bridge from work.
So I had a rough idea where the lights, cameras, actions would be...
Lights outside Hotel Trusty (really, that is its name) |
The wheel points to the star and moon |
Rainbow Bridge was particularly rainbow this eve |
Wheel as snow flake |
Someone else working on his timing (doing a much better job than me) |
Into the colour spirit |
Ganda, the transformer robot whatsit, thingy |
Where the lights might have been |
Subtle puddles |
Reflected robot |
A bit spooky really |
Lights in trees |
Mini city, or giant foot? |
The modern LED Xmas tree |
The moon and star behind Gandam |
He's behind you, no wait, we're behind him |
Brass and woodwinds |
Strings and things |
...alas, time wise I seemed to have missed it by >| |< that much...and I wasn't really prepared to wait around for another 45 minutes to see the next one.
There will be other opportunities, this exhibition goes on into the new year. A bit late for Christmas, or maybe they're just getting in early for next year. It's a matter of timing really.
