Marking. It takes a day without it to really appreciate how much time it takes up in the average life of the average academic. Today was that day and I realised it at the end of the day...
This time last week, I was working towards finishing off the third term marking despite having started the fourth term already. It seemed like it would never end. It always does feel like that. But it ends. it always, eventually does.
But today, a day with no classes, I realised how much I was able to do without the marking to do as well. Quite productive really.
The port travelled along like it was a day with no marking too.
Except for one. The multi-masted ship out under the bridge, still there, not moving, just turning on its anchor rope.
