But when 'zzzzz' can mean quite different things.
The regular reader will know that right now it is the season for marking. Marking, marking marking. Marking time. Marking.
It is not a particularly pleasant time although there are occasional standouts that make it all worthwhile. (Someone listened, someone thought, someone got it.)
There is another zzzzz going around too and that is the glorious sound of cicadas, 'semi' as they are known here and there are several trees near the campus where, if you look closely, you'll see them as well as hear them.
In preparation for a day of the latter 'zzzzzs' I snapped a few of the former 'zzzzzs' on the way to work.

These look like the elusive 'black princes' of my childhood. We were always finding 'greengrocers' but the black ones were harder too find. I also have a vague recollection that an afternoon newspaper back then had a bit of a bounty on cicadas. It gave us kids something to do in summer--seeking out the daytime zzzzzs which helped us with our night-time zzzzzs.
Two more days of marking and grading.
Zzzzz.
