Yesterday was a day off. Of sorts. So today has to be a work day. Of sorts. It is another one of those cross-over days, research/work/historical visit...
Some of our international lecturers are arriving later in the week and next Saturday, all going well, we should be visiting a whale grave and shrine in the suburbs, Shinagawa. It is an amazing bit of history really, dating back to the 1790s.
The remains of a stranded whale were buried here, back then. The shrine has be tended ever since.
It is small, I almost missed the main 'attraction' in fact. This is the kind of research I like, to see this kind of thing, history.

All looks good for our visit next week. Now we just have to hope the weather holds.
