Day 106 2015: It's Graduation...

Day 106: ...apparently...

Today was the Faculty's Graduation Day...when our students gown up, spend their last moments as graduands until they walk across the stage, and then, they are graduates. It's probably the best day of the university year. Better than the last exam.

Or it should be.

You see, dear reader, you will recall that last week was our mid-semester break and this week is back to teaching. Yes, teaching. So...can one juggle teaching and the ceremony? No, not really. 'Ne'er mind', I thought, 'the grounds will be filled with students, their proud families, proud friends, taking photos here there and everywhere'.

Or it should be.

Some years ago, the ceremony itself was moved over to the Stadium, a 7-8 minute walk to the central part of campus (you know that stroll well dear reader...it is by the car park, by the lake where so many birds habitate [>,<]). Ceremony complete, everyone made their way to the central part where the festivities continued. No longer. It all happens at the Stadium.

You wouldn't have even known there was a graduation today. So, unperturbed, I went to where the festivities should have been...in the plaza outside the Art Gallery where there was still some stunning blue sky and sunshine at the end of the day.

And not a bird in sight, for a change.

Oh, hang on. There shouldn't be.
