Day 336, 2 Dec 2017: A backstreet adventure...

Day 336: ...in search of...?

As my regular reader knows, one of the 'sacrifices'* (*not huge in the entire gamut of sacrifices, but personal nonetheless) I had to make was to take extended leave from two joys in my life, the St Lucia Orchestra and Classic Clarinets. I'm a long way from being a good player, but like my photography, I am enthusiastic amateur.

I've had plans to get involved in local music groups since coming to Tokyo this time and with almost two years up, it is time to get serious.

I've been waiting for just the right clarinet to come along. In my dreams that would be a Selmer low C symphonic bass, but I have expensive dreams and a mortgage reality. Suffice to say, I recently learned of a new bass clarinet, an American brand but with French company pedigree. Yes, I'm tad sceptical but even harder on my wallet.

So I found out about a specialist clarinet shop over the other side of town, down in 'downtown', quite the adventure. And since tomorrow I will be at work supervising, I had no qualms about taking Saturday off, in search of...said clarinet.

It also presented an opportunity to check out another part of town, another park...

I spotted a bird...

It spotted me...and I ran

Well, OK...

Yep, near the Skytree

'Echo' (bass clefs, apparently)

Moon, caught

Bubbles

A little higher

Today's IG b&w...what else?
Kinshicho is the name of the area, a bit like Ikebukuro, over my side of town. It also has a new-ish concert hall. I found the clarinet shop (eventually) and I'm considering the clarinet...next stop, the concert hall? Perhaps, in my dreams.
