Day 308 2016: It's Culture Day...

Day 308: ...go for a run

Another public holiday, another day at work. Japan has a lot of public holidays. My university prefers we work.

Actually, it makes a lot of sense in a way. So many holidays can in fact muck up the timetable and the course content in pretty big ways. Instead, at different times of the year, we transfer the official public holidays to uni days, so we get the time off when everyone else is at work.

[Which will be especially excellent for a short trip I have in mind for a few weeks from now...stay tuned dear reader...]

So, it was a lovely day for a holiday, for those having one. And the view from the office was perfect. Perfect skies, perfect calm water, and perfect weather for a run, which many people seemed to want to do today. It looked liked one of those combination serious/fun runs.

Clear skies...

Bridge clear

Finish line with cheer squads

Bridge runners

Turning on a dime
Someone was getting married, the balloons tell us so. Actually, I'm always worried when I see these balloons go up...the birds, the planes, the fish, later, when the balloons burst and fall into the water...still, the photographer in me secretly likes to try and capture them.

Balloons floating up (before they come down)

Calm streaks

Dusky cranes

Dusky wheel

And lovely colours at the end of the day, just as we had at the start.

Good holiday.
