Or somesuch confusion of good old-fashioned sayings. Such was the determination of the bird outside my window today. If I had flicked the camera switch to video, we might still be here waiting for the bird, or the morsel, to crack.

I left for lunch while the bird was working away on this piece of something that was too big (though it did try swallowing a few times), bashing it against different wires, even dropping it once on the ground with a quick recovery mission.
I've no doubt the bird won in the end, you don't keep working away at something like that without winning in the end.
(*No, this is not an accidental, unintended metaphor for academia...)
